Creating Online Courses? What’s in It for Me?

teach online, online course, elearning, ecourse, coaching, udemy

I’ve got to admit I was pretty fed up. It was mid 2014 and it had been about 8 months since I walked away from a 10 year career in working with elite athletes. As a remedial therapist my body was worn and sore from the daily demands treating Australian Rules footballers had placed on it.

Now I was out in private practice, trying to build my business and getting totally frustrated. I had quiet weeks where I couldn’t give a massage away, and then there would be the times that I was so busy my body would be screaming at me before the end of the week.

I was in a real catch 22

In order to make enough money to live I had to do a certain number of massages each week. But this wasn’t sustainable. I was already carrying chronic injuries from years in the job. Man I was getting depressed.

I decided that I was never going to become financially comfortable trading time for money. There were just so many massages I could do each week and there was only so much people would pay. There had to be a better way.

At the age of 52 I decided on a shift in direction. I had gained some pretty cool skills working with professional athletes. During my time in elite sport I had to train my staff to ensure their skills were at the required level. I also had the opportunity to conduct the occasional workshop on sports injury management and I taught massage for a short time. I really enjoyed teaching.

I decided that 2015 was going to be the year where I would focus on designing online training programs and writing books on various topics. But there was a major stumbling block for me.

I had no idea on how to market

I’ve been interested in internet marketing for years. I’d spent a lot of money on eBooks and other trainings only to get confused and go nowhere.

Yes, there is a lot of money to be made in developing information products for the internet.

Many people are happily making five, six and even seven figure incomes through their courses.

If I was going to go to the trouble of developing online courses and other educational material I wanted to make sure people would be able to find it on the internet. And the only way I was going to make that happen is if I learnt how to market.

Having failed in all my previous online endeavors I decided to invest in a mentor and was fortunate enough to be accepted into Alex Jeffrey’s Inner Circle coaching program. If you don’t know who Alex Jeffrey’s is just Google him. He is known to have created more successful online marketers and content creators than any other coach out there.

Funny really, when I joined up with Alex I had a certain direction mapped out in my head. I had chosen my topic and market for my training courses and eBooks. Within a few short weeks of working with Alex my target market totally changed and eCourse Domination was born.

I have experience in online course creation, but Alex is guiding me in niche and market research, showing me simple, fast and effect ways to map out and design content, but most importantly how to market the end product and make it successful.

And as I learn and apply these new, highly successful skills I’ll be creating my own training programs to help guide others to success.

Now you don’t need to be a guru or an expert to create an online course.

We all have skills that people want to learn. All you need to know is a little more than the person you’re teaching.

You also don’t have to be that tech savvy.

If you’ve been thinking about creating an online course then I’m sure you have questions. The good news is that I’ve arranged to interview a panel of online course experts. These guys have a proven record of generating 5 and 6 figure incomes from their courses.

The interviews will take place during March 2015, so if you want your question answered by an expert you’d better act fast. Simply enter your question in the comments area below.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I look forward to guiding you to online success.
